“Mikki is an absolute gem. She has such a loving heart and is so full of wisdom. I feel so honored to know her. She has a way of making you feel so at home and like we’re all human. I felt so connected with every class and really appreciated her efforts to be available outside of class as well.”

Yoga Tools for Eating Disorder Recovery class

Mikki is a patient and thorough teacher. For the first time, I have a sense of what a true yoga practice can look like. Mikki skillfully blends the traditions and context of yoga to make it relevant and impactful. I am confident I will be able to build upon what Mikki taught me to be a more centered and peaceful person. ~ T.E.S.

Great Class. Session length was perfect, towards the end of the six classes, they, for me, seemed to shorten -- in a good way! If there is another class, I would/will consider signing up. Perfect location for me. ~ David Yanik

Yoga Therapy for Stress, Anxiety, & Pain, fall 2021

I enjoyed the time being with breath and having breath lead the movement I also appreciated the allowing of our bodies to remain pain free. I could feel the ramp of the day leave me and I was able to be focused on myself and the moment, Mikki offers a great sense of calm. ~ S.A.M.

Yoga Therapy for Stress, Anxiety, & Pain

What is Yoga Therapy?

Most people learn yoga through physical practice. A Yoga Therapist utilizes the ancient science of yoga. All yoga classes can be potentially healing, yoga therapy is the specific application of yogic tools-postures, breath work, meditation practices, and more. Through these tools, we can address an individual's physical, mental, emotional, and even spiritual health if the person so desires. Yoga therapy can help those who cannot move, to an elite, or professional athlete. The yogic model of health is unique, it approaches all aspects of life rather than considering each body part or system separately, through the Pañcamaya model. Pañcamaya refers to the five elements of an individual; body, breath, mind, behavior, and emotions. This practice allows the client to be involved in their own healing, which creates ease in the body, and a focused and clear mind.

2 ways to work with a Yoga Therapist:

  1. Functional Group for a specific functional need (e.g., low back pain, focus & performance, anxiety, depression, &/or pain, diabetes, osteoporosis, etc.) These classes are a max of 5-10 people and they are usually 1 time a week for 4-8 weeks, 45-90 minutes depending on the type of group needed.

  2. Private sessions, specific to you.  After an extensive intake assessment process to clarify the appropriate yogic tools to use, you will be taught personalized practice. Your unique home practice will be constructed to be simple and fruitful. After practicing on your own for 1-2 weeks, you will meet with Mikki to progress or change your practice based on how you are feeling and any questions you may have. This ongoing relationship is designed to be centered around your developing needs and growth, helping reach your goals and supporting you through life changes.

Even if you have good health, working with a yoga therapist will help you get and stay in touch with your true self in a profound way. It is a wellness model that is designed to assist you in reaching your ultimate human potential over time. Let’s get started…
